Dr Aleksandar Josifovic is a design engineer researching and teaching novel methods for data-driven design and manufacturing.
Since 2012 Aleksandar has worked on design optimisation of positive displacement pumps and evaluation against resulting environmental impact. After completing his PhD in 2016 Aleksandar has worked as Project Manager in a large multi-million InnovateUK project to construct and control robotic hybrid manufacturing cell for metal 3D printing, adaptive machining and non-destructive testing. Following this successful project Aleksandar managed and commissioned delivery of additional robotic 3D printing cell for Wire-Arc manufacturing of large stainless steel components.
Since joining CMAC in 2020, as a part of large Academic and Industrial lead Prosperity Partnership program, Aleksandar has been responsible for design, construction and operation of experimental test setup. Aleksandar manages data collection and its application to inform generative design model, thereby creating a bespoke chemical reactor for complex pharmaceutical applications.
From Challenge 2 I hope to get a better understanding of how design for disassembly can be achieved in one of the most important drive components of 21st century, electric motor. Additionally, by engaging across the UK design network Aleksandar hopes to establish new research collaboration and further idea development.
