Challenges

Challenge Case Studies will have cross sectoral relevance and be co-created with RTO and end users. They will reflect the challenges faced by UK industry in designing the next generation of complex sustainable products.

Challenge Case Studies

D2N+ will adopt a systems-level approach for designing the case studies, considering the requirements of all interdisciplinary stakeholders, including determining system requirements, creating a concept design, refining and optimizing, and verifying and validating it for its purpose.

Case studies will consist of challenge descriptions, load cases, requirements, space envelopes and models as appropriate (e.g., Sys, CAD, FEA, CFD), at a scale and level of detail not usually available to academic partners without NDAs in place.

As part of their support for D2N+, case studies will be hosted by the HVMC during and beyond the life of the network. Each case study will grow in challenge and complexity over the previous, scaling from component/sub-system, to system, to the wider system including people and supply chain (TERC states “excellent design processes are necessary to have control of supply chains”).
