Dr Gopsill is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol researching Digital Design & Manufacture and contributing to the Design Society and CIRP research communities. He has 10+ years experience in innovation pull-through having held an industrial research fellowship with the Centre for Modelling and Simulation (CFMS), Researcher-in-Residence fellowships with the National Composites Centre and Digital Catapult, work package lead on the Digital Engineering, Technology and Innovation Programme (DETI), and author of the Digital Thread chapter in latest edition of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) textbook.
Example innovations include Engine Health Monitoring algorithms, optimised infill designs for Additive Manufacturing, automated digital design and manufacture workflow for composite pressure vessels, PLM metadata (access/edit/modification) log processing pipelines for project, risk and change management, and Artificial Intelligent (AI) agent smart contract peer-to-peer manufacturing systems.
