Dr Xiao Guo is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Cardiff University, with research interests in digital engineering design, digital twins, CAD/CAE, additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and sustainable product development. He also has industrial experience in electric motor and generator prototype design, as well as digital twin development for hybrid powertrain systems.
Through D2N+ Challenge Case Study 2, he aims to explore how integrated digital design methods can support more circular electric motor designs, particularly through design for disassembly, repair, remanufacturing, and high-value material recovery. His contribution will focus on developing practical digital workflows that combine parametric CAD, lifecycle-aware design assessment, and data-driven decision support to enable products to be designed Faster, Better and With Less.
