Ian Risk has 40 years of experience in the A&D sector and has worked across technologies from advanced manufacturing (additive manufacturing, composites processing, automated assembly) with novel materials (metallic alloys, composites), to modern methods of design (mathematical modelling & simulation, use of artificial intelligence). In recent years his focus has been on promoting the digitialisation of advanced engineering, improving understanding of how modern computing processes and techniques can help realise productivity gains and make manufacturing of advanced products more sustainable. He has been involved in the preparation, negotiation and management of numerous research projects and chaired or participated in a range of committees tasked with the management of research initiatives.
