I am an Engineering Technologist at the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland with a PhD in mechanical engineering and experience in computational mechanics and detailed design. My expertise covers structural, thermal and thermo-mechanical simulation in ANSYS, ABAQUS and Simufact, alongside detailed design work in SolidWorks, requirements capture, and design reviews with customers. Also, I have contributed to projects involving Design for X (Design for AM, Design for Disassembly, etc.) at NMIS.
Through the D2N+ project (design for disassembly of electrical motors), I hope to move disassembly strategy upstream into early design decisions, so that circularity is designed in from the start rather than forcing a costly redesign once the architecture is largely fixed.
