Tony Phipps has had 39+ years’ experience working for Rolls-Royce in UK, Germany and internationally, pursuing technology development for advanced engineering, product design and regulatory authority approval. He has managed many research portfolios and radical research programmes, working closely with world-leading researchers at the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Queens, Warwick, Surrey, Bristol, Dresden and Birmingham, SMEs and external companies. He is keenly interested in practical step-changes to today’s “status quo”, involving technology scanning, prototyping and supporting the development of novel methods and their application to innovative products and services. He holds an Honorary Professor of Practice position at Queens University, Belfast.
